April 10: Last day to pay second installment of property tax without penalty.

Important Information for Williamson Act and Farmland Security Zone Property Owners

On Tuesday, December 21, 2010, the Kings County Board of Supervisors approved the implementation of AB 1265 to modify Williamson Act and Farmland Security Zone contracts within the county. Important Information

Many property owners throughout California have received an official looking document in the mail regarding a fee based service to have their property's taxable value reduced. The document posted here is NOT from the Kings County Assessor or any other Kings County Office.  The Kings County Assessor’s Office routinely conducts property assessment reviews for Kings County property owners WITHOUT CHARGE.

Any property owner who believes that their property may be over valued may file a FREE property tax reassessment request with the Kings County Assessor’s Office. A simple, one page form is available in our office during regular office hours or can be downloaded by clicking “What if I think my assessment is too high”  on the left hand side of this page. This link provides more information regarding the Section 51 process and a form to print and mail in.
